What is KlarvoEngine?

KlarvoEngine is Klarvo's regulatory intelligence engine. It analyses your AI system through a 3-pass classification pipeline and produces an article-cited compliance memo with obligations, deadlines, and recommended controls — in under 60 seconds.

What is the EU AI Act?

The EU AI Act (Regulation 2024/1689) is the world's first comprehensive AI regulation. It classifies AI systems by risk level and imposes obligations on providers and deployers of AI systems operating in the EU.

Any organisation that provides or deploys AI systems affecting people in the EU — regardless of where the organisation is based. This includes websites with AI chatbots, companies using AI analytics, and businesses integrating AI models into their products.

Prohibited AI practices have been enforceable since February 2025. GPAI model obligations since August 2025. Article 50 transparency and most remaining obligations apply from August 2, 2026.

What are the penalties?

Up to €35 million or 7% of global turnover for prohibited practices. Up to €15 million or 3% for transparency and other violations. For SMEs, the penalty is whichever amount is lower.

What connected mode adds

Connected mode links your Klarvo AI Transparency installation to a Klarvo account. This unlocks:

Analytics dashboard (badge views, expands, dismissals, top pages)

Detection alerts when new AI tools appear on your site

Custom branding and colour options beyond the 8 presets

Multi-site management (Pro: 5 sites, Agency: 25 sites)

Setting up connected mode

Create a free account at app.klarvo.io/auth/signup

In the Klarvo dashboard, go to Klarvo AI Transparency → Sites → Add Site

Enter your website URL. Klarvo generates a unique site key.

In WordPress admin → Settings → Klarvo AI Transparency, paste the site key into the "Site Key" field

Click Save Changes. The badge will now say "Connected" in the admin panel.

What happens in connected mode

The plugin sends anonymous detection data to Klarvo's API:

List of detected AI tools (plugin slugs and names)

Badge interaction events (view, expand, dismiss) — no visitor personal data

Site URL and timestamp

No visitor personal data is ever transmitted. No cookies are set on visitors. The data is used solely for your analytics dashboard.

Disconnecting

Remove the site key from the WordPress settings and click Save. The plugin reverts to standalone mode immediately. Your Klarvo account retains the historical analytics data.
