Using the AI System Wizard

How the KlarvoEngine-powered intake works — describe your system in 4 fields and KlarvoEngine classifies it through a 3-pass pipeline with article-level precision.

The AI System Wizard

The AI System intake is powered by KlarvoEngine — Klarvo's regulatory intelligence engine. Describe your AI system in 4 fields (name, vendor, department, description) and KlarvoEngine classifies it through a 3-pass pipeline in under 60 seconds. See How KlarvoEngine Classification Works for full details.

Design Principles

  • Under 60 seconds for a complete KlarvoEngine classification
  • Every answer creates action: Each response drives at least one of — classification decision, obligation flag, evidence request, or auto-generated task
  • Progressive disclosure: Complex questions only appear when earlier answers make them relevant (e.g., workplace notification questions only appear if you indicate workplace use)
  • Save and resume: Progress is saved automatically. Close the browser and come back — you'll pick up exactly where you left off
  • Explainability: Every question includes a "Why are we asking this?" tooltip explaining the regulatory basis
  • How KlarvoEngine Intake Works

The AI system intake is powered by KlarvoEngine — a 3-pass regulatory classification pipeline. Instead of answering manual questions, you describe your system in 4 fields and KlarvoEngine handles the rest.

    What You Provide

    FieldWhat to EnterExample
System NameWhat you call this AI system internally"Customer Support Chatbot"
VendorWho provides it (or "In-house")"Intercom" / "OpenAI via API" / "Built in-house"
    DepartmentWhich team owns it"Customer Success"
DescriptionPlain-English explanation of what it does, who it affects, and how it's used"AI chatbot on our website that answers customer questions about our products. Uses GPT-4 via API. Customers interact directly. No human review before responses are sent."

The description is the most important field. The more context you provide, the more precise the classification.

    What KlarvoEngine Does With It

Pass 1 — Understand: Extracts structured data from your description — what the system does, who it affects, deployment regions, human involvement level, output types, workplace impact, and whether it meets the AI system definition.

Pass 2 — Classify: Maps the extracted data against the full EU AI Act — prohibited practices screening (Article 5), high-risk assessment (Annex III domains), transparency obligations (Article 50 sub-articles), GPAI model check, and industry-specific regulatory overlaps.

Pass 3 — Verify: Cross-references against 70+ pre-loaded classification scenarios, checks for common misclassification patterns, verifies consistency, and assigns a confidence score.

The entire process takes under 60 seconds.

    What Gets Generated

    After classification, you receive:

  • Classification memo — 2-3 page article-cited analysis (exportable as PDF)
  • Obligations — 6-15 specific obligations with deadlines and assignable owners
  • Smart controls — only the controls that apply (typically 8-30 out of 40)
  • Policy drafts — AI Acceptable Use, Worker Notification, Training Curriculum (Starter plan+)
  • Disclosure text — Article 50 transparency text ready to deploy
  • FRIA pre-fill — if high-risk, the FRIA wizard starts pre-filled
  • See How KlarvoEngine Classification Works for the full guide.

    After Classification

Your AI system record is now complete with:

  • AI System Record: Full database entry with all metadata extracted by KlarvoEngine
  • Classification Memo: Article-cited PDF document with risk level and reasoning
  • Obligations List: Auto-generated with deadlines, priorities, and assignable owners
  • Controls: Smart selection of applicable controls with task plans
  • Policy Drafts: Ready-to-edit policies generated from classification data
  • Gap Analysis: What's complete, what's outstanding, what needs evidence
