Understanding Your Classification Memo

How to read, interpret, and use the article-cited classification memo that KlarvoEngine produces.

Understanding Your Classification Memo

Every KlarvoEngine classification produces a memo — a structured document explaining WHY your system received its classification, with references to specific articles.

Memo Sections

1. System Summary

What KlarvoEngine understood about your system: name, vendor, core function, affected persons, deployment context, and human involvement level.

2. AI System Definition Test

Whether your system meets the Article 3(1) definition. References the Commission's February 2025 guidelines on AI system definition. If it doesn't qualify as an AI system, no further obligations apply.

3. Prohibited Practices Screening

Results of checking all 8 Article 5 prohibitions. Each shows either "No indicators found" or a flag with explanation and the specific sub-paragraph.

4. Risk Classification

The core result:

  • Risk level: Prohibited, High-Risk, Limited Risk, or Minimal Risk
  • Reasoning: Why this level was assigned, citing specific articles
  • Annex III domain (if high-risk): Which domain applies (e.g., Domain 4(a) — recruitment)
  • Confidence level: How confident KlarvoEngine is
  • 5. Applicable Articles

Specific EU AI Act articles that apply:

  • High-risk: Articles 9-17 (requirements) + Article 26 (deployer obligations) + Article 27 (FRIA)
  • Limited risk: Article 50 sub-articles
  • GPAI-based: Articles 51-56 references
  • 6. Transparency Obligations

    Which Article 50 sub-articles apply:

  • 50(1) — AI interaction disclosure
  • 50(2) — AI-generated content labelling
  • 50(3) — Deepfake disclosure
  • 50(4) — Public-interest AI text labelling
  • 7. GPAI Model Status

If your system uses a foundation model (GPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.):

  • Provider documentation check (Annex XII)
  • Training data summary verification
  • Copyright policy status
  • Systemic risk threshold (10²⁵ FLOPs)
  • Exporting

  • PDF: AI system detail page → Export → Classification Memo
  • Evidence Pack: Included in your ZIP export
